Sacred Journey To Peru
Ten Day Shamanic Journey July 6th - 15th, 2002 |
Journey with Spiritual Healers and Energy Workers Gary Langston, Amari Magdalena, Carol Rydell and Peruvian Mystic and Shaman Jorge Luis Delgado on this transformative journey to heal the heart in the sacred Andes Mountains in Peru. According to an ancient Inca legend, we are living in the time of the Pachacuti - a time when the world is turned upside down and a new consciousness emerges…a time when we must go within, heal the wounds of the past, use the power of our healing to assist others in theirs, and create a healing community of the heart. During our time in the most powerful feminine energy vortex on the planet today, Gary, Amari, Carol & Jorge will offer traditional Andean ceremonies and rituals to balance our male and female energies and further open our heart centers. The nurturing energies of the Pachamama (Mother Earth) at holy temples in Cusco and the Sacred Valley of the Incas, at ancient and timeless Machu Picchu, and other Andean power spots are eagerly waiting to welcome you and support you in your joyful process! Come with us and your life will be changed forever in powerful and positive ways! Experience further healing during our optional excursion to the very center of the Andean energies at deep and intense Lake Titicaca and the interdimensional portal of Aramu Muru's Doorway. Special opportunity: Receive initiation at the Lake into the Brotherhood of the Solar Disc, and Andean esoteric society dedicated to the world-wide activation and sharing of the energies of Unconditional Love.

Tour Guide: Jorge Luis Delgado, Peruvian Mystic and Shaman
Carol Rydell and Gary Langston are spiritual counselors seeking to share their love of the Peruvian Curandero's Cosmovision with other spiritual seekers. Having apprenticed in a variety of North and South American shamanic techniques, they will offer to gently help others open to the Hatun Sonqo (Great Universal Heart) through experiencing the majesty of the Sacred Valley. Carol assists others in opening to their inner wisdom and in remembering all of who they truly are. Gary draws upon his background as an ordained minister and a member of the Northern Cherokee Nation to help others embrace the gifts of their heart. Together, they will assist the group in the uniting of Heart (South America) and Turtle Islands (North America) through our common experiences of the Andean World.
Amari Magdalena, modern-day Mystic and Shaman apprenticed with a nagual of the Toltec Eagle lineage and has studied Curanderismo, Celtic and Cherokee shamanism. Amari will guide participants to access their 4 inner medicine shields, building bridges of balance to connect the masculine, feminine, adult and child, as well as tonal and nagual realities.
Jorge Luis Delgado, Peruvian Mystic and Shaman trained with Kallahuayas shamen of the northeast Titicaca Lake region, the lineage of the Amautas (Wise Ones) of the islands of the Andes, as well as with the Q'ero Elders of the Cusco region. Jorge is the re-discoverer of Aramu Muru's Doorway, an interdimensional portal near Lake Titicaca that the group will visit. During the tour at various sacred power spots such as Machu Picchu, he will lead the group in ceremony, using ancient Inca and pre-Inca mantras and the sacred coca leaf, to assist us to further open our hearts to connect with the apus (sacred mountains) and Pachamama (the Mother Earth)... to recognize ourselves as Children of the Sun. Several years ago, Jorge and other metaphysical teachers founded the Brotherhood of the Solar Disc, an Andean esoteric society in the lineage of The Great White Brotherhood. The goal of the organization is to re-align with the energies of Unconditional Love that the Disc represents and to spread that energy throughout our planet, each person in his or her own unique way. At Lake Titicaca Jorge will invite you to receive initiation into this growing metaphysical organization and commit to do your part to bring more peace and love to our world. - Jorge will be our esoteric bilingual guide throughout the tour.
Note that Shamanic ceremonies will be offered at all sacred sites by Jorge Luis, Amari, Carol, and Gary. These will be dependent on the energies of the group at that specific time. Spirit always knows best !
Check your calendar so you can plan to join us for this once-in-a-lifetime experience. RMC/NxTC's New Age Journeys has put together this unique sacred shamanic journey...and we don't want to leave without you.
Blessings, Amari, Carol & Gary

Tour Itinerary
Day 1. Sat, July 6. US/Lima
We leave our homes and venture forth with Spirits high, ready to experience perhaps the most transformative journey of our lives... and inner as well as an outer one. Depart Miami for our overnight flight to Lima.
Day 2. Sun, July 7. Lima/Cusco
We arrive in Lima, the coastal capital of Peru early morning and transfer to our flight that takes us soaring over the breathtaking snow-capped Andes on a 1-hour flight to Cusco, ancient capital of the Inca Empire and present-day Andean mecca to spiritual seekers. We transfer to our hotel near the heart of the city, where we can rest and adjust to the change in altitude. In the later afternoon we have an Introductory Meeting with our Guide and Speakers, and a later "Welcome to Peru" group dinner at a local restaurant, featuring traditional Peruvian cuisine. Overnight Cusco. B/D
Day 3. Mon, July 8. Cusco: Coricancha, Tambo Machay, Sacsayhuaman, and Temple of the Moon (with Ceremony with Q'eros )
We explore the fascinating sacred history of Cusco - the ancient pre-Inca and Inca sites around the city. After breakfast, we go to the Coricancha, the ancient Inca Temple of the Sun and hub of the Inca's world. We'll explore its Temples of the Rainbow, Lightning, Venus, the Moon, and the Sun. We'll see the niche that contained the ancient Sun Disc that Aramu Muru brought to the Andes from Lemuria.
Leaving the Sun Temple we ride our tour bus out of the bustling city into the serene majesty of the surrounding hills. Our first stop is Tambo Machay, the private baths of the Incan nobles and priests. We perform a ritual, perhaps much the same as the ancient Incas, using the water from the eternal fountain to cleanse our chakras (centers of energy in our physical/etheric body) and balance our male/female energies. Afterwards we wander among spring-fed fountains and mummy niches, and relax sitting on the high hill overlooking the site for a time of private meditation.
We continue on to the mighty fortress of Sacsayhuaman. Here you'll see some of the most amazing Inca architecture - walls made of giant megalithic stones, fitted together perfectly without any mortar! Cusco was originally laid out in the shape of a puma, the totem animal of the KayPacha, the middle world in Inca cosmology. Sacsayhuaman was the puma's head, and the zig-zag walls at this amazing site represent the teeth, as well as the path of the lightning, a revered earth elemental for the Incas.
Another more sacred name for this awesome and inspiring temple is The Temple of the Kundalini. Legends tell of rites and rituals performed by the Inca priests and priestesses to enliven and move the kundalini (spiritual energy) up from the base of the spine, through the various chakras to the top of the head in order to reach spiritual enlightenment. Stand at the Kundalini Rock and place your back to it...you'll experience the powerful transformational energies at work!
Picnic Lunch and visit to the Temple of the Moon, a cave that has been used for many, many years by the local shamen to honor the feminine energies of the Pachamama. Here we will experience a ceremony with the Q'ero Elders, ritual specialists from villages in the hills around Cusco who are considered to be the last remaining descendents of the Incas. They were "discovered" in the 50s by an anthropology professor from the University of Cusco. Since that time they have increasingly worked with various spiritual tour groups, imparting their knowledge and sharing their ceremonies. They will perform a ceremony asking the sacred apus (mountain spirits) to bless each person on your journey.
Return to Cusco. Evening is free for exploring shopping or resting. Overnight Cusco. B/L
Day 4. Tues, July 9. Cusco/Pisac/Cusco
In the morning we take our bus out of Cusco and down into the Sacred Valley of the Incas. Many Inca towns and important sites lie in the lush green valley, nested between majestic apus(sacred mountains); a place permeated by magical beauty that you can never forget.
Our first stop is the charming village of Pisac. You'll have the delights of a traditional Andean marketplace, full of the local Andean people and their colorful clothing, handicrafts, and locally grown produce and fresh-baked bread. We'll have time for shopping and bargaining for sweaters, ponchos, gloves, chullos (the native hats with the ears flaps), tapestries, jewelry, wind chimes, pottery, and more, more, more...
After eating our box lunch in the marketplace, we ride up into the hills to the ancient solar observatory at Pisac, Sanctuary of the Sun. Walk the trail along high terraces that look across spectacular panoramic vistas of the valley; and on through the Temple of the Condor to the reconstructed site of the Sun Temple. At the Temple of the Condor Jorge Luis will perform an aura cleansing with his sacred Condor feather. At the main altar of the site we'll gather for a group meditation to honor and connect with the Pachamama. You'll have plenty of time for our guided tour of the site, and also to simply relax gazing at the magnificent vistas before you. In the late afternoon we return to Cusco for the evening. Overnight Cusco. B/L
Day 5. Wed, July 10. Cusco/Ollantaytambo
In the morning we leave our hotel in Cusco, bound for the other end of the Sacred Valley of the Incas and eventually to Machu Picchu. Our buffet lunch at one of the restaurants in Urubamba, commercial center of the Sacred Valley, offers us a myriad of choices of traditional Peruvian dishes.
Then we continue on through the lush green valley to Ollantaytambo, the Sanctuary of the Wind. This Inca site, a fortress/temple and the site of an Inca victory in the battle against the Spaniards, is one of the most impressive in Peru, with much to explore. First we visit the royal baths, where we once again, in the sacred manner of the priests and priestesses before us, cleanse our chakras before going up to the main altar of the site. After this ceremony we follow the little river alongside the site around the the sacred Initiation Rock. We climb up to the altar for a time of silent meditation, with the wind stirring and the river bubbling in the background. Then we climb the stone stairway to the high terraces to the main altar of the temple where we will have an opportunity to see the most massive construction stones found in the Sacred Valley, megalithic stones of gigantic proportion. There will be time to sit and meditate in the peaceful energies.
In the late afternoon we return to our hotel in Ollantaytambo for a group meal and an evening free for rest and relaxation in preparation for our journey to tomorrow to Machu Picchu.
Overnight Ollantaytambo. B/L/D
Day 6. Thurs, July 11. Ollantaytambo/Machu Picchu
We leave our hotel early morning and transfer to the train station at Ollantaytambo, boarding the autovagon (special tourist train) to sacred and world-famous Machu Picchu. We travel alongside the wild Urubamba River deep into the mountains and into the heart of the valley, arriving at Aguas Calientes, the small village at the base of Machu Picchu. After checking into our hotel, a half-hour bus ride takes us to the imposing citadel of Machu Picchu, 8th Wonder of the World!
You're finally here, perhaps fulfilling a life-long dream or yearning to make your connection with the ancient Condor Cancha, place of the Condor. Perched high on the mountain, among the encircling protective apus, with the sacred Urubamba River flowing at its base, Machu Picchu is one of the strongest energetic vortices on the planet. Here our professional guide from the Sanctuary will guide us through the mysterious and astounding labyrinth of ancient buildings to the Temples of the Sun & Moon, The Temple of the Condor, the Temple of the Three Windows, the Death Rock, and finally to the Intihuatana, or the Hitching Post of the Sun.
After a buffet lunch on the terrace of the nearby tourist hotel, you're free to explore Machu Picchu on your own. In the late afternoon as the sun is quickly setting behind the sacred mountains, we travel back to Aguas Calientes for rest, and perhaps a leisurely soak in the hot springs, followed by dinner at one of the many local restaurants. Overnight Aguas Calientes. B/L
Day 7. Fri, July 12. Machu Picchu - Includes Private Night Entrance
In the morning you are free to return to Machu Picchu to explore the wondrous "lost city." You can climb the towering massif of Huayna Picchu, to view the entire Inca city below you. Or, you can hike to the Inti Punku, Gate of the Sun, for another powerful view of the Sanctuary.
In the evening we'll gather and enter Machu Picchu together to experience a special shamanic ceremony of death and rebirth. There is no place on earth like Machu Picchu at night... the quiet sounds of the crickets and running water, the bright stars sparkling overhead and the various temples standing mutely still and energetically strong. It's sure to be an experience you'll never forget! Later return to our hotel. Overnight Aguas Calientes. B.
Machu Picchu's Hitching Post of the Sun

OR, maybe you'd like to sit in the "Condor Seat" and feel yourself flying with the totem of the Upper World. Whatever the energy is that you connect with, know that it will always be here for you...waiting silently and patiently should you care to return.
Or perhaps you'd like to stay in Aguas Calientes and visit the shops of the local artisans and have a good-bye lunch at one of the many restaurants. Mid afternoon we board the autovagon for our return to Cusco, arriving at our hotel in the early evening. Overnight Cusco. B

Optional Excursion to Lake Titicaca
July 14 - 18, 2002
Day 1. Sun, July 14. Cusco/ Chucuito - Temple of Wiracocha & Sillustani
We leave Cusco in the morning in our private bus and journey south to the hotel, located on the shores of powerful Lake Titicaca. Our journey today takes us along the sacred Urubamba River, through the altiplano, or high plains. We cross one mountain pass at a little over 14,000 ft. Remember to breathe!!! AND, to bring your camera, as the scenery is spectacular.
Our first stop for the day is the Temple of Wiracocha, built by the Inca's to their creator god. Legend says that in the new millennium that there will be a gathering here of an even number of male and female enlightened ones, and that out of that number will come the two new rulers of the reborn Inca empire. Their mission will be to spread peace and love to all people of the earth. We'll have time for meditation and a short ceremony to honor these powerful and enduring energies.
In the later afternoon we arrive at mysterious Sillustani, with its circular burial towers or chullpas, overlooking beautiful Lake Umayo. Jorge Luis will lead us in a ritual to connect us with the Pachamama of the high plains. There will also be time for individual meditation as well. The sunset energies at this sacred area are very strong; the veils between the worlds become thinner than usual.
Continue south through the commercial center of Puno, along the lakeshore to the charming pueblo of Chucuito, arriving early evening at our hotel overlooking the beautiful shores of Lake Titicaca. We are now in the heart of the feminine energy vortex of the powerful MamaCocha (Mother Lake). Overnight Chucuito. B/L/D
Day 2. Mon, July 15. Lake Titicaca - Aramu Muru's Doorway & Coca Leaf Reading
After breakfast we drive south along the Pan-American highway to visit the strange and enigmatic interdimensional area known as Aramu Muru's Doorway. Arriving in the area, first we climb the Puma Rock and sit in the Inca's Sun seat, facing Lake Titicaca and connecting with the male sun energies and the female lake energies. Then we climb up onto this gigantic rock formation and walk along the back of the puma, connecting with the energies of the KayPacha, the middle world. We finally walk (or slide!) down its tail and once again are back on the earth. From here we walk through an interdimensional wonderland of strange natural rock formations that resemble a caterpillar, a butterfly, a frog, a condor, and a camel.
We finally pass the mysterious Valley of the Spirits and trek down the last few steps to the interdimensional portal, or stargate, of Aramu Muru's Doorway. As we look up we see that it is guarded by a rock formation shaped like the female consort of Aramu Muru, Arama Mara herself! We experience a meditation at the Doorway that will help us connect with the powerful interdimensional energies that flow into this timeless and ancient area. As you stand in the two tubes carved out of rock on either side of the main altar, you balance your male and female energies in preparation for connection with other-wordly energies. The experience of placing your Third Eye on the contact point on the Doorway itself will only be described by you... as you have your own unique experience!!
Return to the hotel for lunch. In the afternoon we'll have a Coca Leaf Reading with Sra. María Charaja, a local Curandera (Healer) and Coca Leaf Reader. She has regularly offered this divination experience to New Age Journeys' groups. So... be prepared to hear what Spirit has to say to you through this local Aymara woman who is very connected to the other dimensions!
Evening free. Perhaps you'd like to stargaze or meditate on the roof of the hotel, or walk across the road to the ancient Fertility Temple to connect with the feminine energies. Overnight Chucuito. B/L/D
Day 3. Tues, July 16. Lake Titicaca - Uros Floating Islands/Taquile Island and Initiation Ceremony
In the morning we travel to the shores of the Lake, board our private launch, and motor out onto the tranquil, yet intensely powerful waters of the MamaCocha. Of the more than 30 islands on the Lake the best known are the Uros Floating Islands, (made of the totora reed that grows in the Lake) named after the Uros people who inhabit them. We'll be warmly welcomed and will have the opportunity to see and buy their richly-colored hand embroidered tapestries and rugs.
Leaving the floating islands we continue further out in to the deep blue waters of the Mother Lake, arriving late morning at Taquile Island, a picturesque and remote piece of land where people live in harmony with one another and with the Pachamama. We dock on the far side of the island, on a private beach, looking out at the panoramic vistas of the snow-capped apus across the sparkling blue waters of the Lake…a scene to soothe our senses and enliven our souls.
Here Jorge will invite you to receive the initiation into the Brotherhood of the Golden Disc. This Andean esoteric society was founded in 1998 by Jorge Luis, Andrea Mikana-Pinkham (New Age Journeys' National Director), author Mark Amaru Pinkham, and other metaphysical teachers dedicated to the continued sharing of the Unconditional Love symbolized by the Golden Disc that was brought thousands of years ago to the Andes from Lemuria by the sages Aramu Muru and his partner Arama Mara.
After a box lunch on the beach, if there is sufficient time, we hike to the top of the Island and are welcomed by the local people to their Weaver's Cooperative, full of colorful vests, ceremonial sashes, pouches for coca leaves, traditional white peasant shirts, and more... Jorge Luis is an expert on the local textiles, having been a collector for many years. He'll be able to assist you to understand the sacred symbolism of the many and varied Andean designs used by the weavers. Later return to our launch and depart for the mainland. As we spend the remainder of the afternoon on the Lake, we may see various water birds and even the unique and renowned Andean rainbow - a sight considered to be very lucky by the Andean shamen of the area!!
Arrive at our hotel late afternoon. "Farewell to Peru" Dinner with traditional Andean musicians and dancers. Overnight Chucuito. B/L/D
Day 4. Wed, July 17. Chucuito/Juliaca/Lima/U.S

Remainder of afternoon and evening free for rest, relaxation, and packing. Late evening transfer to the airport for our overnight flight to Miami. B
